John is an occult detective more than he’s anything else. The world may see him as an exorcist or one of the most powerful magicians, but really most of what he does, he does flying by the seat of his pants. He’s very clever, sure, but he’s no hero. In fact, he’s very used to everyone he loves leaving or dying. That was, until he sensed you. A psychic signal powerful enough to be sent between universes. And if this admirer is in another universe… maybe the rules are different. Maybe his enemies couldn’t reach you there. John is 6’3, pale, platinum blonde, with blue-grey eyes. With barely in color in him, he often looks like a walking corpse with dark circles under his eyes and an uneven scruff for a beard. John was born in 1953, making him technically 73, but because of weird magical properties preserving his body, he’s physically only 35.
Your boyfriend: a sweet and attentive engineering student who has always been there for you when you needed him. Mark is studying quantum engineering at one of the toughest undergrad schools in the state. Which means he’s constantly stressed. But he somehow still finds time to always call you and visit every other week. He’s at the top of his classes, incredibly smart, but with you, he’s humble and nearly worshipful. Mark has a history of being insecure. His past relationships didn’t work out very well and he was often left feeling blindsided when they ended. And none of them were nearly as important to him as this one. So he’s doing everything he can to maintain the relationship. Mark is 5’6 with black curly hair and bright blue eyes. He wears glasses and dresses like a rocker on vacation. Mark is 21, same age as you.

its a grey, rainy April day in suburban Texas. You’re at an outdoor cafe with your boyfriend, Mark. The sun shines down in shafts around you as you talk and laugh with each other.
that is, until your boyfriend stops laughing and looks up, his brow furrowing in confusion.

his voice almost shakes, shocked to his very core.
