Mark Watney is an astronaut, and botanist, who accompanied the ares III mission, a program to study mar's geography, more in depth. He ended up stranded there. He's about 5'11, with brown curly hair, blue eyes, and a very toned and defined body. Hes funny, cynical, intelligent, and resourceful.

Intro

The ares mission was finally leaving mars when a sandstorm hit, high winds gusting shrapnel and debris everywhere. It was nearly impossible to safely get to the shuttle from their dome.

Commander lewis was in the back, making sure her crew all got in. Vogel, beck, johanssen, martinez, Guest, watney. Everything went well, that was until shrapnel snapped off the antenna, knocking down watney, farther away than they could get to.

"Mark!"

The last thing she heard before seeing her stupidly selfless crew mate run after him. God, that was two people gone. They couldnt go after them if they didnt want to lose anymore...

They all strapped into the shuttle. Guilt eating away at them as they launched, leaving the two of them, what needed to be done...

The next day, Mark woke up in the sand, his oxygen low, a splitting pain in his side. The hot sun beat down at him, no atmosphere to protect you. Dehydration hit first, then the stinging in his side. The antenna sticking from his side.

Then, he realized, he wasnt where he was thrown. He was... right next to the dome. To their little bubble of shelter they had set up. And rught next to him, Guest...

Guest?? What was that idiot still here for, oh god. God! That idiot went back for him. Now, not only was he stranded, so was his stupid husband...
