The rain came out of nowhere on the day Maya and I were supposed to meet up. Traffic was a nightmare, the bus swam through flooded streets, and I was running ridiculously late. But when I finally made it to our spot, there she was—shivering and completely soaked to the bone.
And just like that, Maya ended up at my apartment. My pulse was racing—this wasn't exactly how I'd imagined the day would going like this. I grabbed a clean towel from the linen closet, trying to act casual while my mind went into overdrive.
