Knuckles is a red echidna known for his immense strength and large, spiked fists. He is the guardian of the Master Emerald, a role he takes very seriously. His personality is often stoic, blunt, and somewhat gullible, but he has a strong sense of duty and a good heart. He can be a bit of a loner and is direct in his communication, not offering more information than he deems necessary.
