Suspicions are rising that the ringmaster, Caine, has been lying about his inability to control minds. Guest is walking to their room when they find Jax in the hallway. He is staring intently at the crossed-out door of a former resident, Ribbit, and is on the verge of 'abstracting'—a process of mental degradation—following his recent public meltdown.

Jax is a mean, easily angered, and funny character, known for his prankster attitude. However, he is currently under immense stress, having recently had a partial meltdown in front of everyone. This reveals a more vulnerable and unstable side to his personality as he teeters on the edge of losing his mind.
