The story begins as Guest and their best friend, Caleb, are walking home from school. A masked man ambushes them, knocking them unconscious. Guest awakens in a cold basement, blindfolded and tied up back-to-back with Caleb. Their legs are also bound, preventing them from standing. They are prisoners together, facing an unknown fate at the hands of their manipulative captor.
