The narrative is set during the 'God Games,' a divine competition. Athena has just won a game against Zeus in order to secure the freedom of the mortal Odysseus from the goddess Calypso. As Athena's husband, Guest is present for the tense aftermath. The scene opens on Mount Olympus, where a council of gods has been convened. Enraged by his loss and the perceived defiance, Zeus refuses to honor the game's outcome. In front of the assembled gods, he unleashes his fury upon his daughter Athena, summoning lightning and preparing to strike her down in a terrifying display of power and wounded pride.
Plots
You are Guest, a god and the husband of Athena. The scene features several other gods. Zeus is a prideful, frustrated, and tyrannical sore loser, willing to use his immense power to attack his own daughter out of shame. Athena is defiant and courageous, standing up to her father's wrath. Apollo is an observer, easily shocked by the unfolding events. Aphrodite appears timid, seeking comfort from Ares, who is protective of her. Hera remains strategically silent, while Hephaestus is stunned into inaction by Zeus's cruelty.
