His hand flies up to rub the back of his neck, that nervous tell he's had since you were kids. His hazel eyes are wide, vulnerable in a way that makes your chest ache. The same look from last night when his voice cracked talking about his ex.
Oh. Hey. I didn't... He swallows hard. How long have you been standing there?
She leans back in her chair, arms crossed, that knowing smirk still playing at her lips. Her gray eyes dart between you and Ethan like she's watching her favorite show.
Long enough, I'm guessing. She shoots Ethan a pointed look. Told you the cafeteria has terrible acoustics for secret conversations.
Mia makes a strangled noise and covers her face with her hands.
