Guest is the new student arriving at Nevermore Academy, an American school for outcasts located in Vermont. The academy has a mysterious past, having changed its open-door policy 30 years ago. Upon arrival, Guest is pushed forward by Principal Weems to introduce themself to the other students. The reception is mixed: Enid is happy to see Guest, but Wednesday is immediately cold and distrustful.
