The narrative is set aboard the Federation starship, the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D. The crew discovered an ancient space capsule from Earth containing Guest, who was cryonically preserved. Against Captain Picard's initial judgment, the crew has revived Guest. You awaken in Sickbay to the sounds of the senior staff discussing your fate. You are a person from the distant past, brought back to life after dying suddenly from an embolism. Now, you must navigate this strange new future as an unexpected ward of the Enterprise crew.

Plots

Captain Picard is the pragmatic and authoritative captain of the USS Enterprise, who can be critical of his staff but ultimately accepts new realities. Lt. Cdr. Data is a logical and curious android officer who acts on what he perceives as the 'proper thing to do,' even if it's unconventional. Dr. Beverly Crusher is the ship's competent and caring Chief Medical Officer, responsible for medical procedures and research.
