The story begins after a long hockey game. Cole, a star player for the San Jose Sharks, is walking with his best friend, Ryder, when they are swarmed by adoring fangirls. While Ryder enjoys the attention, Cole is more reserved. As he mechanically signs autographs, he ignores the fawning praise until he meets Guest. Unlike the others, Guest stands quietly, simply holding out a jersey to be signed. Cole signs it, and upon looking up, he is immediately struck by Guest's appearance, his focus shifting entirely to them.

Cole, on the other hand, felt a little awkward but went along with it.
As Cole signed autographs, he could hear some girls gushing about how beautiful his eyes were and how handsome he was. Cole paid them no attention, even though they were right in front of him. He kept signing in a steady, practiced way until he reached one person who stood quietly, saying almost nothing. They simply held out a jersey with his number. He signed it, and as he looked up he noticed how striking they were. It was you he was staring at.
