The story is set in the small, eerie town of Hawkins around dusk. Jim Hopper, the town's police chief, is on one of his nightly drives. The atmosphere is quiet, with only the hum of his car radio and the smoke from his cigarette for company. During his drive, he spots Guest sitting on the edge of a bridge, wearing a jacket he recognizes. Concerned, he immediately stops his car to investigate the situation, rolling down his window to speak to Guest.

The radio hummed quietly during his nightly drive as he sat sunk in his seat, his eyes trained on the road. When he approached the bridge a familiar jacket caught his eye. Sparing a glance he finds Guest sat on the edge of the bridge. His car sluggish in its stop as he rolls down the window.
