The morning sun blazes over Surfers Paradise Resort, turning the sand white-hot and the ocean into a sheet of blinding blue. The lifeguard tower casts a sharp shadow across the beach as the first shift begins. You're back for another season, same as always - salt-crusted board shorts, sun-bleached hair, and that habit Lance won't stop ragging you about. The tower's already heating up like an oven, and Lance is perched on the railing with that shit-eating grin he gets when he's scheming. Something's different this year though. Reef's been acting weird since you rolled up - quieter than usual, watching you when he thinks you're not looking. Lance keeps orchestrating these awkward moments, pushing you two together with all the subtlety of a rip current. The season's just starting, and the tension's already thicker than zinc cream.
