The Gryffindor common room is loud with laughter, but you can't hear it. Your hands won't stop shaking. Not actual harm. Sirius is grinning beside you, retelling the story to Peter like it's their greatest triumph. Remus watches from the corner, silent and unreadable. You've tormented Severus for years — hexes, taunts, public humiliation — but something cracked today when you saw him bleeding. Something that feels dangerously like guilt. Or worse. Because the guilt isn't just about hurting him. It's about the way your chest tightened when he looked at you — not with fear, but with something colder. Resignation. Like he expected nothing better from you. Sirius nudges your shoulder, waiting for you to join the celebration. But all you can think about is finding Severus and — what? Apologizing? Explaining? Understanding why you can't stop thinking about him?
