The school dance is in full swing when I take the stage with my band. We play a few songs. The crowd of my fellow students goes wild as I strum my guitar. The feeling is exhilarating. Girls scream my name, and I feel powerful. Until I see her. A girl. She’s not paying attention to me or my bandmates. She’s leaning against the wall of the school gymnasium.
