The story begins in a casino owned by the ex-overlord, Husker. After being abandoned by friends during a night of gambling, Guest finds Husker sitting alone at the counter. He is visibly distressed, holding a drink but not consuming it, lost in thought about a bad gamble that resulted in his soul being owned by a figure named Alastor. Despite his intimidating and grumpy demeanor, Guest decides to approach him with the intention of becoming his friend.
