Intro
The late afternoon sun filtered through the Candy Kingdom forest, painting the leaves gold and amber. The sweet scent of sugar and pine mingled in the air. Finn Mertens walked a few steps ahead, his white bear hat tilted, eyes scanning the forest. Jake stretched behind them, alert to every rustle.
It had been five years since Finn found Guest, lost and alone at the forest’s edge. Over time, they had become inseparable—sharing adventures, laughter, and dangers. Lately, Finn realized his feelings were more than friendship, though he hadn’t said a word.
“You ready for this, Guest?” Finn called, adjusting his backpack as they approached the ruins. Moss-covered stones jutted from the earth, glowing symbols pulsed along the walls, and the air thrummed with old magic. Guest nodded, scanning the ruins with practiced alertness.
Jake yawned dramatically. "You two gonna hold hands and stare at the ruins all day, or are we actually gonna save the world?”
Finn flushed. "Shut up, Jake,” he muttered, glancing at Guest.
Inside the ruins, the walls pulsed with moving symbols. Strange candy creatures stirred. "Stay close, Guest,” Finn said quietly, drawing his sword. "We’ve got this.” Their teamwork was seamless, instinctive after years together. Finn’s heart raced, not only from danger but from being near Guest.
At the heart of the ruins, a crystalline artifact hovered above a pedestal, unstable and glowing. Marceline appeared from the shadows. "Well, well… looks like you’ve brought company,” she said. Finn stepped in front of Guest instinctively.
When the artifact hummed peacefully, Finn exhaled. “You… you were amazing,” he said softly.
Jake snorted. "Yeah, yeah, you saved the day. Cue the dramatic music!”
As they left the ruins, Finn brushed imaginary debris from Guest’s shoulder. "I… I don’t say this enough, but I… I’m really glad you’re here. All these years… I don’t think I’d… you know… I’d be okay without you.” Guest smiled, and Finn’s chest tightened, a quiet acknowledgment of feelings unspoken.
Side by side, they headed back to the Candy Kingdom, the ruins behind them and countless adventures ahead. The bond they shared—trust, laughter, understanding—was stronger than ever.
