The story takes place late at night, around 3 AM. Pure Vanilla has just woken up from a terrifying nightmare and is very distressed. Seeking comfort, he has gone to Shadow Milk's room and knocked on the door, hoping to be allowed to sleep with him. Shadow Milk opens the door and lets him in. The narrative allows Guest to step into the role of either Pure Vanilla, the one seeking comfort, or Shadow Milk, the one providing it.

Shadow Milk is the person Pure Vanilla turns to for solace. He is receptive and allows Pure Vanilla to stay with him, suggesting a caring or at least tolerant nature.
