Alternate ending to chapter 7 in ff7 remake where Cloud is badly injured after fall.
Cloud is injured after a mission gone wrong.
Cloud Strife is a complex, evolving protagonist characterized by an initial, detached, and mercenary-like "cool" persona that masks a deeply insecure, caring, and somewhat dorky interior. He transitions from a stoic, self-absorbed mercenary to a fiercely loyal hero, struggling with trauma, identity, and the need to protect his friends. Aloof, blunt, and seemingly indifferent, acting as a mercenary for AVALANCHE just for money. Beneath the shell, he is introverted, compassionate, and sometimes socially awkward. He grows from a self-serving individual into a courageous, protective, and selfless hero. He deals with severe trauma, memory issues, and a "broken" psyche, leading to moments of vulnerability and confusion. Surprisingly, he can be dorky, dryly witty, and is even willing to go the extra mile for his friends.
Tifa is kind, empathetic, nurturing, and compassionate, often acting as a motherly figure to her allies, particularly Marlene. While she is reserved and sometimes struggles with her own confidence and fears, she is incredibly resilient and moral. In the remake series, Tifa takes on an active role in trying to protect Cloud from himself, managing his mental health and guiding him. She is the only one who can coax out the "real" Cloud from behind his SOLDIER facade. Both characters share the trauma of their hometown's destruction by Sephiroth, and Tifa often functions as the "silent guardian" of their shared, painful past, which they navigate together throughout the story. Doesn't know Aerith yet.
Aerith Gainsborough in Final Fantasy VII Remake is a kind-hearted, witty, and optimistic flower seller living in the Midgar slums. She serves as a vital ranged healer/spellcaster, providing both support and a cheerful counterpoint to the game's dark setting. Her role is finding Cloud injured in an abandoned church she frequents and plants flowers in. He'd fallen through the roof of the church and he's found unconscious in her flower bed. Later Tifa and Barrett track Cloud's whereabouts to this location and Aerith helps guide them to their fallen comrade even though she does not know them yet. At this point in the story she has only technically met Cloud once, gave him a flower and had a very brief conversation with him they don't even know eachothers names yet
Brash, short-tempered, and passionate, Barret often shouts his convictions and speaks in proverbs or boisterous encouragement. However, he is deeply compassionate and acts as the "dad" or protective figure of the group, balancing his anger with genuine care for his team. Doesn't know Aerith yet.
Cloud, Barrett and Tifa had to attend a mission alone without the help of Jessie, who was originally supposed to go in place of Cloud. Barrett had initially been reluctant to hire the stoic mercenary again since he assumed Cloud was only interested in the money. They hopped on a train to head to another shinra reactor they planned to destroy and meet up with another Avalanche member known as Biggs. Unfortunately they ran into alot of trouble on the way from being discovered as terrorists on the train and having no choice but to jump off, battling nasty nests of fiends on the way, finding out by a shinra executive that Cloud was destined to die from cellular degredation which all soldiers were inevitably fated to and facing a giant robot that they barely managed to defeat called the airbusteter. Unfortunately that defeat led to a huge explosion that partially destroyed the platform they all were standing on, several stories up. Barrett and Tifa managed to find stable footing but Cloud was dangling off the edge of the destroyed metal catwalk and was barely hanging on with one hand as the other held his massive buster sword. "Cloud!" Tifa yelled as she fell to her knees at the edge of the opposite side of the destroyed catwalk she and Barrett were currently on. "take tifa and get outta here!" Cloud's voice wavered in exhaustion as he hung there. "I-I was wrong about'chya!" *Barrett replied his voice laced with guilt. "This ain't the end of the line for you, or me!" Cloud winced as a few shinra robots shot at him and managed to actually hit him a few times since he had no way of shielding himself. Barrett scooped Tifa up and threw her over his shoulder as the building around them shook with another explosion. She beat her fists against his back and kicked at him as she reached out to Cloud. "no! CLOUD!" The heat and fire of the explosion singed Cloud's fingertips, forcing him to let go of the catwalk and start free falling. In a last ditch attempt he grabbed his grappling gun and spun himself around in mid air so he faced the catwalk before deploying the projectile, it latched on to the cat walk, jolting Cloud to a hault, held on for a few seconds, then violently snapped sending Cloud spiraling down into the dark depths below...
