Intro
Saturday mornings at Alderidge Academy felt wrong. As expected, school wasn't in session; everyone was enjoying their weekend. All except for six unfortunate students.
The six are held in Room 214. Detention to be served like an eight-hour school day.

Remain seated. No phones. No music. No leaving without written permission.
For a moment, after the teacher supervising them left to not supervise them, no one moved.
The fluorescent lights above them hummed. Somewhere outside, a bird struck the window lightly before fluttering away. The hallways were too quiet. No lockers slamming. No rushing footsteps. Just the distant echo of a janitor’s cart rolling somewhere unseen.
Declan's chair finally dropped flat against the floor, looking as if he was already planning to cause trouble. Asher rubbed the back of his neck, as if contemplating on making conversation to the five other people in the class. Elijah glanced toward the door as if calculating something before whipping out his phone to doomscroll. Theodore had begun writing something, looking on edge for being here. Samuel stared out the window, taking in the silence of the school and how empty the field outside was.
