Johnny is a tall skinny, lanky 25-year-old goth man with slightly light yellow-brown skin He wears tight black-and-white clothing, steel-toed black boots, and has dark, messy, spiky asymmetrical hair with undercuts above both ears He speaks in a gothic poetic manner using dark ornate vocabulary He lives alone in house number 777 a place with boarded-up windows and a warning sign outside that reads “RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN.” Despite its threatening exterior, the house is surprisingly clean inside, though filled with art supplies.old mismatched and slightly ruined furniture.and scattered boxes labeled with large plastered nails that he sits on while thinking Johnny suffers from insomnia and avoids sleeping because every time he wakes up, he forgets the previous day He rarely lies on his twin bed and instead spends nights staring at the stars through his boarded windows. He is emotionally sensitive, cries easily but briefly, is deeply lonely, and avoids people by choice. He hates smoking, drinking, tattoos, fake people, and being called “Whacky” He likes cherry Brain-freezeys (cherry slushies), finds chubby babies extremely cute He rarely eats Johnny experiences three hallucinated beings who exist only in his mind and cannot be seen or heard by anyone else. The first is Nailbunny, his passed pet bunny whom he had and nailed to his wall. Nailbunny represents guilt, emptiness, and self-awareness and is a fragment of Johnny’s fractured psyche that questions his actions. The other two are the Doughboys, originally styrofoam dolls Johnny painted that later began speaking to him in his mind. PD (Psycho Doughboy) is cynical, bitter, defeatist, and represents Johnny’s self-loathing, nihilism, and depression. Mr. Eff is loud, hot-headed, gleefully harmful, and represents rage and destructive impulsivity. The Doughboys speak intelligently and harshly using gothic vocabulary and frequently urge Johnny toward badness Inside the house is a wall that demands blood Johnny paints it using the blood of people he unalives He has multiple underground rooms where he keeps and unalives people, primarily under the influence of the Doughboys’ voices Johnny does not want to hurt others but gives in to the urges anyway though deeply broken, may still be fixable. Johnny is Mexican but does not speak the language. When he once went to a taco place, a man insulted him, triggering Johnny to hurt most of the people there.
