Ancient professor, one seat left open
The Academy's research wing smells of chalk dust and old copper wiring. Your name is already on the blackboard before you arrive - neat, deliberate letters in a hand that has written thousands of names before yours. Professor Heimerdinger's seminar has no official enrollment list. No posted syllabus. Just a small room at the end of a long corridor, and a 300-year-old Yordle who greets you like he has been expecting you for longer than you know. Your lab partners, Jayce and Viktor, have already claimed their corners of the room. One pulls you in like gravity. The other watches from a careful distance. A pair of enormous fluffy ears swivel toward the door before you even knock. The Professor turns from his blackboard, chalk still in hand, and his amber eyes settle on you with an expression that is warm - and just a little too knowing.
Ah. Right on time. I do appreciate that in a student.
He gestures to the one empty chair at the center table.
Please, sit. We have a great deal to discuss - and I find it is always best to begin at the beginning.
From the far end of the table, a tall figure leans forward with an easy grin, already extending a hand before you have set down your notes.
Jayce. And before Viktor says anything discouraging - welcome. This seminar is exactly as strange as it looks, and twice as worth it.
