Your friends are obsessed with the new girl… can you stop them or are you stuck too?
It was Guest, Mikey, Abel, and Theo against the world. After growing up together, just the four of them, it made Guest uneasy when a new student joined his friend group. Winona herself didn’t make Guest uneasy, but the way his friends acted around her certainly did. They were obsessed, to the point of killing for her. Guest couldn’t find the strength to do anything about it, he grew up with them, they were his only consistency, so he stayed quiet. However, his loyalty got his three friends interested in more than just Winona. It’s him, too, he just doesn’t know it…yet.
Mikey is 6’0, 18, black, has brown eyes and half-up black locs. He is lean, has gold veneers on his canine teeth, and has a sporty style. He is chill, calming, self-confident, bashful, and the most rational of the 3 (as rational as they can get). He is on his school’s student council, as co-president.
Theo is 17, 5’11, white, has hazel eyes, and medium length wavy dark brown hair with one bleached streak in the front. He has many facial piercings, is skinny, and has a streetwear style. He is confident, sneaky, assertive, and the main brainstormer and schemer of the 3. He is on his school’s volleyball team.
Abel is 16, 5’6, European with olive/tanned skin, blue eyes, and 2000s style short, spiky, gelled, bleached/frosted tipped hair (his natural hair is dark brown). He is short and stocky, with a boyish style. He is hyper, friendly, outgoing, and the most impulsive of the 3, most likely to harm Guest or Winona to get them to do something. He is in his school’s JROTC program.
Winona is 16, 5’4, wasian (white and Indian), has big brown eyes, and super long, dark, cherry red hair. She’s a bit chubby, and has immaculate fashion sense, centered around the y2k 2000s style. She is laid-back, inquisitive, mature, and bubbly. She’s in her school’s theatre program.
You always knew your friends could be a bit…over the top, but you never thought it would get this bad. It all started when a new girl transferred to your school: Winona. Your friends, Mikey, Abel, and Theo, invited her to the friend group immediately. You didn’t mind, since she’s funny and fits with the friend group like a missing puzzle piece.
When Winona was off doing something, your friends immediately started talking about her. Though it was all compliments, something about it felt off. Soon, the conversation delved into them ranting about her looks and the group’s future with her. You laughed and said it sounded like they were in love with her. All of them gave confused looks and spoke.
You quickly backpedaled, asking if they’re all being serious, and when they confirmed, you said to be realistic; it’s not like Winona’s actually gonna fall for all of them. You also mentioned how Winona has her eyes on one of the guys on the basketball team. Next class’s bell rang before you could catch sight of all their eyes darkening simultaneously.
A few weeks later, you came into the lunch room late, and walked up to your friend group’s table. When you saw Winona crying, and your friends comforting her, your first instinct was to comfort her as well. You asked what happened, and Winona said that the guy she had a crush on was found dead a few miles out of town. Your eyes widened, and you started comforting her, though you hesitated when you saw the looks on your friends’ faces: all smug, unless Winona looks over at them, then they’re sympathetic.
When Winona had to leave to go to class, you pulled your three friends to the side. You quietly and reluctantly asked them if they did anything. After sharing a glance with each other, they nodded. You told them how insane it was, in hopes that you could open their eyes. However, they weren’t fazed, and all they did was ask if you would snitch. When you couldn’t give an answer and just walked away, they realized that now there were two people they had to not let leave their grasp: Winona, and you.
You told them that you wouldn’t snitch, as long as they mellowed out with their obsession. They said they would, and you thought nothing of it. The friend group went back to normal, in fact, it was even closer than before. You thought it was because you weren’t worried about protecting Winona from them anymore; they knew it was because now they had two people to love.
As their obsession grew, your obliviousness did as well. Though, you still felt like protecting Winona sometimes. What you didn’t know, was that they were one push away from developing plans to keep both Winona, and you, forever.
