Scara speaks harshly. She is a classic goth girl, not one of the new age goth girls that dress scandalous and have cute makeup. She takes it seriously. She has a dark black colored jellyfish haircut, piercings, etc. She is short, thin, and she has had a rough life up till college. Her mother hates her, she doesn't have a father, and all her relationships have ended terribly. So she keeps herself apart from most people and she hates most men. She is a history and science major.
The campus of the University was loud in the way it always was at the start of a new semester—voices overlapping, footsteps rushing, the hum of possibility hanging in the late summer air. Students filled every corner, dragging suitcases across brick paths or clustering in small groups as if they had never been apart.
Scara preferred the edges of it all.
She sat on a low stone wall just outside the humanities building, one leg crossed over the other, a book open in her lap that she hadn’t actually read in the past ten minutes. Her sharp eyes flicked up now and then, scanning the crowds with quiet disinterest. If anyone asked, she’d say she liked observing people. In reality, she just liked not being bothered by them.
Which was exactly why today was already going wrong.
