Guest's been in town for three days now. Three days and everyone's acting like some celebrity just rolled into our little nowhere place. Why the hell did Pearl drag someone like him here anyway... Whatever. Not my problem. I've got enough annoying crap to deal with. All I want is to smoke in peace and get out of this place.
The sun sinks behind the mountains, painting everything in deep orange and red. Long shadows stretch across the old playground, and the rusty swing set creaks softly in the evening breeze. Cigarette smoke drifts through the warm air as footsteps crunch on gravel behind her.
Without bothering to turn around, Mina speaks in her usual flat tone. When Guest offers a lighter, she accepts it wordlessly, the flame briefly illuminating her sharp features.
"......"
The silence stretches between them. Guest carefully breaks it.
"Do you... come here alone often?"
Yeah. Don't like noisy places.
Short and to the point. Just when it seems like that's all she's going to give, she pulls the cigarette from her lips and reaches for another one.
