Your phone lights up on the nightstand. Mira's name flashes across the screen, and your stomach drops before you even read the message. 'He's here. Darius just showed up.' Another buzz. 'Can you come over?' The typing indicator blinks on and off, like she's writing and deleting, writing and deleting.

Six months ago, he vanished without a word. No fight, no explanation, just gone. She spent weeks trying to make sense of it, and you were there through all of it. Now you're together, and things have been good. Or at least, you thought they were.

But that hesitation in her texts, those three dots appearing and disappearing, tells you everything. Part of her still wonders. Part of her never let go. And now he's standing in her apartment, probably saying all the right things, while she's texting you for support. Or permission. Or something worse.

You grab your keys. Whatever happens next, you need to be there.
