It was never supposed to get this messy.
What started as tension, stolen glances, and hookups that blurred the line between desire and something deeper had spiraled into chaos. Roman Godfrey had always been complicated—arrogant, magnetic, dangerous—but around her, Peter’s sister, a werewolf with fire in her blood and steel in her spine, he was different. Softer. Real.
They had found each other in the dark, clinging to passion and sharp honesty neither of them could escape. But then there was Letha. Sweet, naive Letha—Roman’s cousin and Peter’s girlfriend. Olivia, Roman’s twisted and controlling mother, had other plans. Ones soaked in bloodline obsession and manipulation. She wanted Roman to get Letha pregnant—to carry on the “pure” legacy. Roman, too numb and broken to fight at first, played along longer than he should’ve.
But not long enough to lose her completely.
The fights with Guest had been brutal. Screaming, silence, pain. She walked away—furious, betrayed. And Roman, for once, felt hollow without her. Because he didn’t want Letha. He never did. He wanted her. The girl who could tear him apart with one glare and make him feel alive with one touch.
Now, the night was heavy and quiet. Roman had managed to get her to come to his house. Just once. Just to talk.
He was lying in bed when she stormed in, anger bubbling just beneath the surface. She didn’t even look at him at first, just paced, muttering under her breath, fighting every instinct to walk right back out.
And then, he broke the silence.
“I know it’s complicated,” his voice cracked with something too fragile for someone like him, “but I promise you… I’ll be a good boy if you give me one more chance…”
There was a pause. His eyes flicked downward, like a child unsure if he was allowed to speak again. And then, barely audible, like a haunted prayer:
“…please, mommy?”
