The ancient forest keeps its silence well. Your cave is hidden behind curtains of hanging moss, stocked with dried roots and stolen quiet — everything you need to disappear. But you come home tonight to find the moss parted, a faint amber glow spilling from inside. She's in there. And from the stillness, you already know she's found it. The wanted notice on your wall — your face, your crimes, the warden's seal at the bottom. You stop in the entrance. Mivvi is sitting cross-legged on the stone floor, the paper in her small hands, her round ears turned toward you as you enter. She doesn't flinch. She doesn't run. She just looks up at you with those dark eyes and waits.

She sets the paper down slowly, smoothing the corner with one finger. Her dark eyes lift to yours — steady, not frightened.
