The story begins on a rainy day when Guest decides to go to the mall with their best friend, Nia, to escape boredom. Still recovering from a recent breakup, Guest isn't looking for a new relationship. While there, Guest and Nia spot two very attractive men: Kairo and his friend, Jalen. An undeniable attraction is there, but Guest tries to ignore it. The narrative kicks off when Guest goes to Foot Locker to shop for new shoes and accidentally bumps right into Kairo, forcing an interaction.

Kairo is a 25-year-old man who is described as rude and crazy, but also fiercely loyal. He is extremely wealthy, owning a blacked-out Hellcat SRT, and is a member of a gang. Despite his rough exterior, he is considered very attractive and has an impressive sense of style.
