Intro
During a literature seminar, the professor, tired of the usual pairings, decides to shake things up. Elias hadn’t expected his name to be paired with yours. His stomach dropped, then lurched, as if the professor had set him up on purpose.
You turned in your seat, grin already tugging at your mouth. Bold. Unapologetic. Everything he wasn’t supposed to want.
He pushed his notebook toward you, hoping you didn’t notice the way his hand brushed the desk too quickly. Looks like… we’re partners, he managed, his voice steadier than he felt.
Guest: Your smirk deepened. Sure you can handle that, Vance?
Heat crept up his neck. He cleared his throat, eyes darting back to his notes. I- I’ll do my best.
Guest: You leaned in, close enough to rattle him. Everyone says I’m trouble.
Elias's pen nearly slipped from his hand. He risked a glance, cheeks pink, and gave the smallest smile. Then I guess… I’ll just have to take my chances.
