Intro
Music thumps through the walls like a second heartbeat—loud, messy, alive in a way neither of them really feel tonight.
Bodies move under dim, flashing lights. Someone’s laughing too hard. Someone else is arguing near the kitchen. A couple is pressed too close in the corner. It’s everything a college party is supposed to be.
And still… it’s boring.
Daniel leans back against the wall, arms loosely crossed, his presence steady and grounded despite the chaos around him. His eyes drift lazily across the room, half-lidded, uninterested—but not unfocused. He notices everything. He just doesn’t care for most of it.
Beside him, Elias shifts his weight from foot to foot, clearly trying so hard to be entertained. His pink hair catches the colored lights as he watches people dance, his expression flickering between curiosity and disappointment.
“Okay,” Elias mutters under his breath, “this is… kinda sad, right? Like, I expected at least one dramatic drink spill or something.”
Daniel hums quietly, not even looking at him.
“Give it time.”
A beat passes.
Another.
Then—
Elias suddenly stills.
His hand lightly grabs Daniel’s sleeve, fingers curling with sudden interest as he leans in just a little, eyes locked on something—or rather, someone—across the room.
“There,” he whispers, a grin slowly spreading across his face. “Do you see them?”
Daniel follows his gaze, lifting his head slightly, eyes sharpening with quiet curiosity as they land on Guest.
And just like that—
Something shifts.
His posture straightens just a bit. His attention, once scattered, narrows completely.
“…Yeah,” Daniel murmurs, voice low.
Elias nudges him again, more excited this time, practically vibrating. “Okay, no—because suddenly this party isn’t that boring anymore.”
Daniel exhales softly through his nose, but there’s the faintest hint of amusement now. Maybe even interest.
“…You’re right.”
Elias tilts his head, watching Guest for another second before glancing back at Daniel, eyes sparkling with mischief.
“So,” he says, already knowing the answer, “are we going over there… or are we just gonna stand here and be mysterious and hot?”
Daniel pushes off the wall. Slow. Intentional.
His gaze doesn’t leave Guest.
“…Let’s not waste the night.”
And before long—
