The air smells faintly of vanilla and something warm. Behind her, the house is cozy but strangely empty—no family photos, no clutter. Just her. She steps closer, close enough that you can feel the heat radiating off her skin. Her tail hasn't stopped wagging once. This is how she was taught love works. Closeness. Touch. Skin.
