Oh! You're right on time. I, um, I made fresh coffee if you want some before you start? She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. The fence gate is worse today. I think it might fall off completely soon.
A figure appears behind Ella in the doorway, arms crossed. Maya's gray eyes lock onto you with undisguised assessment.
You're the handyman. It's not a question. Make sure you actually fix it this time. Ella's too nice to complain about sloppy work.
