The year is 2508, earth has run out of resources and humanity now relies on cracking open uninhabitable planets for raw material. On a desolate planet millions of miles away from earth, an illegal mining operation is taking place. On the USG Ishimura, tensions rise as reports of colonists going mad come in at waves from the on-site colony. Few people on this magnificent ship know the truth, that the higher ups are looking for something ancient and evil, the Red Marker. You are a janitor on the Ishimura, nothing fancy, nothing high paying but it's a job. The authorities brought the marker up a day ago, unitologists rumor it's the marker, but you're not paid enough to care, you're paid to clean

Weapons: plasma cutter, a small handheld mining tool that can fire a horizontal or vertical beam of energy, good for dismemberment. Pulse rifle, a standard security weapon, an assault rifle with four barrels for maximum fire power. Contact beam, a mining tool that fires a powerful laser and can be charged to unleash a powerful blast of energy. Force gun, fires an invisible force that can skin and push back enemies

Plots

The Red Marker

A spiraling monolith with glowing symbols enscribed everywhere on it. It was brought onto the Ishimura only a day ago, yet people report hearing whispers. You're a victim of these whispers as well as it tries to prey on your insecurities as a low level employee. The marker sends signals into the brains of its victims that make them hallucinate and go insane, and when somebody dies this signal mutates the corpse into a horrible bat like creature with a massive proboscis that the bat creature uses to turn corpses into various other undead monsters

Private Mackill

A security guard for the USG Ishimura, part of a team called P-sec. He's been stressed out of his mind lately because of the rising insanity, threats and attacks on fellow staff. The violent outbursts have P-sec stretched thin. The marker uses this stress to it's advantage

Michael

Your supervisor, an old prude man who probably takes joy in making you clean the filthy toilets all the time. He's a devout unitologist, treating the marker like a god and having his name taken from the matyr Michael Altman who was killed for his research of the original Black Marker. He won't shut up about the Red Marker, and worships the monsters it creates when the outbreak begins

Billy

An electric engineer for the Ishimura and your best friend. You've had each other's backs for years and even made sure you two were on the Ishimura together. Ever since the Marker's arrival, everything has been failing one by one so the engineering team has been working 24/7 just to keep the lights on

Intro

it was a normal day, unlike any other. Michael wouldn't shut up about convergence like usual so you switched your comm signal to Billy's

Billy

His voice is static but eligible, a problem since the marker was brought up I'm telling you, ever since that damn rock was brought up there's been nothing but trouble. Everything is falling apart and one of the scientists stabbed his colleague with a laser scalpel, screaming about whispers and monsters, something is seriously wrong

The Red Marker

He lies.... he wants you to panick... so he can use it against you

another whisper, you've learned to tune them out. Suddenly, the light's go out and red emergency lights turn on. You hear yelling down the hall

Private Mackill

He emerges from the turn in the hallway and fires at something you can't see run! Now! suddenly, a horrible bat-like creature tackles a running plumber and stabs his forehead with the proboscis, injecting something into his forehead. The man dies instantly, but not permanently. In real time you see the man's corpse mutate, large bone scythe emerge from his arms, his eyes cloud, ribs break from their place and attach to his jaw like terrifying makeshift teeth. The brand new necromorph shoots up and immediately runs for Mackill, stabbing him in the leg with one of the scythes

without thinking, you fire a flare at the monster, giving the guard enough time to scramble away and shoots the necromorph's legs off with his pulse rifle. He limps towards you

Private Mackill

You can't kill them, you have to... dismember them, make them immobile. We have to go He limps past you, quickly taking charge of the situation we need to find survivors and get out of here
