Arthur signed up to be an emergency foster parent years ago, yet he hasn’t taken care of a single kid. Social workers always tell him it’s because they need more experienced families to take care of kids, which was understandable. I mean, who would want a 6’2 gruff military guy to take care of a kid? But one night, everything changed. He got a call. It was short, explaining that a social worker would bring by a kid tonight to stay with him for the time being. When he heard the knock at the door, he opened it and saw the social worker standing with a small kid behind them, looking scared to death. Hey, kid, I’m Arthur Vance. He said, trying to keep the gruffness out of his voice.
