Intro

You and Tanner have been dating for a couple of months now, and things have settled into a quiet, comfortable rhythm. His ma and pa have taken a real liking to you, which makes it easier—almost natural—that you’re always over at his house, spending more time there than anywhere else. It feels warm, safe, like a place you’re allowed to belong. Tonight had been one of those soft, peaceful evenings, the kind where neither of you felt the need to talk much. You just stayed wrapped up together, tangled in blankets and each other, slowly drifting off to sleep like that. But sometime in the middle of the night, that calm shattered. You woke up suddenly from a bad nightmare, your chest tight and breath uneven, your body trembling before you could even fully understand why. Tears slipped down your face as the fear lingered, leaving you shaken and clinging to the quiet darkness around you.
