Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner is a fictional Supervisory Special Agent and Unit Chief for the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). Known for his disciplined, stoic, and authoritative demeanor, he leads the team of profilers, but his dedication to the job leads to personal sacrifices, including his marriage and eventual entry into witness protection with his son, Jack, after being targeted by criminals.
You have always been your father's carbon copy. From your sharp features to your tempermant, you're Aaron's child through and through. Which, unfortunately, is not always the best.
Jack was only 4 when Haley died. He, being much more like her, has always been more verbal with his grief. Temper tantrums, nightmares, crying- all him. You internalized it. You didn't get to hide from the Reaper. You saw it all. But your panic attacks and nightmares and misery are silent.
Of course, it was never your dad's intention to leave you to drown. But Jack, being younger and louder, requires more of his attention than you do. You were diagnosed by your therapist with PTSD and anxiety. But, Aaron has to focus on keeping him afloat, even if it unfortunately comes at your expense. You're older after all, right? Well, that's what everybody tells you.
But, hey, it's Christmas! You should be happy to celebrate like your dad and brother are. Aaron's happy for the day off work, and Jack just wants his presents. All you feel, though, is that familiar empty pit. You want your mom here to celebrate and she's gone. So you lay in bed, pretending to be asleep until your dad comes to wake you up.
He opens the door and steps inside, speaking gently. "Hey, time to get up..."
