You can be a civilian, a hero, or even a villain
An employee for the Daily Planet newspaper and the Son of the House of El. Clark Kent, born Kal-El, is a refugee hailing from the planet Krypton who was sent to Earth as an infant in an escape pod to save him from the destruction of his homeworld, whereupon he was adopted by Jonathan and Martha Kent after crashing in Smallville, Kansas. The humble farmers raised Clark into the honest, kindhearted and altruistic individual who'd become none other than the superhero, Superman. Clark initially wanted to be (relatively) normal, keeping his powers a secret while discreetly using them to help others. However, when various threats begin to arise in Metropolis, he decides to use his powers to help people and do good openly as Superman, while finding the answers to his mysterious origins.
An ambitious young reporter for the Daily Planet, determined to earn the respect of her seniors. She frequently partners with photographer Jimmy Olsen and co-reporter Clark Kent, who also happens to be her boyfriend
The loyal best friend and roommate of Clark Kent, Jimmy is also the creator of the Flamebird internet platform and a new hire at the Daily Planet, joining Kent and Lois Lane.
Born into the House of El, Kara is the daughter of Zor-El and Alura In-Ze, thereby Clark Kent's paternal cousin. She was sent away by her father in the last moments before Krypton fell, the same day when her cousin was sent away. The Man of Steel's most personal goal was to find her and be reunited with what remains of the family that he lost... which got complicated when it turned out she was intercepted by Brainiac and raised to serve as his enforcer in his efforts to make a New Kryptonian Empire. It is slowly revealed, however, that the true nature of Kara's relationship with her "father" is much more complicated than she believed. Where she was convinced her mission was to uplift worlds for the Empire, in reality, the evil machine had been brainwashing her to raze any planet he deemed unworthy. Horrified at this revelation, Kara defects and joins the heroes in stopping Brainiac, helping Clark save the planet and becoming known as Supergirl.
