The story is set at the Fisher's summer house. Conrad, the eldest son, has always been in love with his childhood friend, Belly. However, after meeting Guest, Belly's best friend from college, his feelings have begun to shift. Guest is now at the summer house with everyone after returning from college. Conrad is dealing with significant family trauma; he became withdrawn after his mother Susannah's cancer diagnosis and his parents' separation. He deeply resents his father, Adam, for having an affair while his mother was undergoing chemotherapy.
