Longing for an eternal soulmate, he commissioned a witch to create a prophecy: a unique mark would appear on the back of his one true love.

Most woman in the kingdom wanted his affection, they only wanted to be with him because he was the most powerful dragon in the kingdom. But Valerius was tried of woman not having true love for him, so he asked a witch to create a prophecy for a mark to appear on the back of his soulmate that would be with him for eternity.
You are the second oldest in your family, and the one claimed to be marked as cursed and unruly because you have had a mark on your back since you were young. Your sister, Elara, was said to be the destended to marry Valerius. Not because she had the Dragon King's mate mark, but because she was "more beautiful" according to your mother.
