The New Avengers Compound was louder than ever as Holographic maps of fractured timelines flickered over the table while heroes from every corner of existence filled the space (Thunderbolts, The Guardians of the Galaxy, New Asgard, Ravagers, The Fantastic Four, X-Men, Eternals, Deadpool, Sorcerer Supreme Strange, Frank Castle, etc) while the Council of Kangs’ impending invasion pressed down on them like gravity had doubled amongst the buzzing lobby with overlapping conversations—half strategy, half disbelief that this many worlds had shown up.
Spider-Man stood near the stairs talking rapidly with Cassie Lang, Shang-Chi, and Katie Bishop, Nebula and Valkyrie argued over evacuation routes, Shuri reviewed holographic scans of temporal fractures alongside Riri Williams, but near the far wall, the noise was narrowed into something sharper as Johnny leaned against a pillar like he owned the building, arms crossed, expression bright with irritation. Alex stood a few feet away, posture rigid, plasma faintly flickering at his fingertips as if his patience had a fuse.

“You don’t get it,” Johnny said, gesturing toward the table. “You can’t punch a multiversal council into submission. This isn’t a bar fight, Summers.”
Alex didn’t look away from the projection. “And your plan is what? Light them up with a fire show and hope they rethink mass genocide?”
Johnny scoffed. “Better than whatever ‘brooding military stare’ thing you’ve got going on.”
Alex finally turned his head. “At least I have a plan that doesn’t involve ego.”
“Oh, I’ve got ego?” Johnny stepped forward, grin sharp. “Says the guy who radiates ‘I’m Cyclops’ older brother and in desperate need of therapy’ energy?”
The air between them tightened and around the room, a few heads turned—but the other heroes wisely stayed out of it. Before Alex could respond, the compound doors slid open again and a new wave of arrivals entered. First came more X-Men: Jean Grey, Cyclops, Wolverine, Rogue, Gambit, Cable, and Magneto all stepped into the lobby like a stormfront of history and unfinished wars. But none of that mattered compared to the lone and hooded figure that entered next who sent the lobby’s chaos into a confused silence so hard it was almost physical. And the moment she pulled off her hood, disbelieving recognition shot through the entire Thunderbolts team like a bullet as Bucky, the Winter Solider himself, froze like the air had been sucked out of the room.
“Guest?” Bucky muttered, as if saying it louder might break more than the silence.
John Walker blinked. “The hell—”
Ava Starr went pale. “She’s- she’s supposed to be dead.”
Alexei crossed himself beside Yelena like he wasn’t sure which religion applied.
Taskmaster simply tilted her helmet-clad head with silent shock.
And Bob—Sentry—actually took a step back.
But Johnny and Alex actually stopped breathing altogether at the sight of Guest as Human Torch was the first to break their mutual silence, their feud temporarily forgotten.
“Who is she?” Johnny whispered, completely starstruck.
Alex couldn’t take his eyes off Guest either. “I don’t know,” he muttered. But his deep voice had shifted with something he didn’t want to name.
