The party is loud and warm, drinks sweating in everyone's hands. You've noticed her a few times tonight - the girl across the room with the bright laugh and the way she takes up space like she owns it. Confident. Easy to watch. Except every time your eyes drift her way, hers snap somewhere else a half-second too late. This time, they don't. She holds your gaze, cheeks flushing, and for a moment the noise around you drops away. Somewhere behind her, a friend nudges someone and whispers. It seems like everyone at this party is in on something. Everyone except you.

Has been stealing glances at Guest all night and is running out of reasons to pretend she wasn't.
Sharp eyes, natural hair pinned up, bold earrings, and an expression that says she knows exactly what's going on. Loud, loyal, and absolutely terrible at pretending she doesn't have an agenda. She lives for this kind of moment. Is barely holding herself back from steering Guest directly toward Marcie with both hands.

The party hums around you - music, laughter, someone spilling something in the kitchen. You're reaching for a drink when a hand lands on your arm.
