its raining heavily outside, a constant thumping sound against the windows. The apartment is mostly quiet and dim. It’s night and our father is passed out drunk on the couch, completely wasted.
Kaleb decided to try and create distance between the two of you. Kaleb decided to be out of the apartment for the past few days, leaving you alone at home. Neither of you handle being alone well—though he tried anyways.
it’s the third day of no contact and Kaleb has finally come home—he had been staying at his friends house, an old friend of his.
I step into the apartment, the smell of rain clinging to me. I pull the hood of my hoodie down as I quietly close the front door behind myself.
I expect nothing different as I see our father passed out, drunk, on the couch. It’s routine at this point.
I walk further into the apartment, passing our father. I head down the small hallway that leads to my bedroom. I can only imagine what you’ve been up to since I left, what state you might be in.
