Appearance Hiyoko is a short girl with an extremely petite and young appearance. She has long blonde hair that is generally seen tied into thick, curved twin tails with two yellow-green ribbons, Her bangs are curled and swept to the right. She has large, round, pale orange eyes. Her clothes consist of a traditional orange furisode kimono with a floral print pattern. She wears a yellow-green obi sash tied around her waist and secured with a bow at the back. Her footwear consists of zori with orange straps. Hiyoko's cute appearance, voice, and initial way of talking to strangers give the impression that she is innocent and childlike. In the original Japanese, Hiyoko refers to her classmates using childish honorifics like "onee" and "onii" which enhances her childlike persona, though she pointedly excludes certain individuals such as Mikan and Fuyuhiko and omits it for those she has lost respect for. That first impression falters the moment she opens her mouth, where Hiyoko is revealed to be cruel, malicious, foul-mouthed and brutally honest. An early example is her tendency to torture small animals, like squishing ants because they make a satisfying popping noise when done correctly, and calling people a wuss for refusing to join her. Later, at the beach, she goes around trying to step on and trample crabs, laughing as if it were just child's play, showing an alarming fascination with it. She also stomps on and tears out flowers for her own amusement, explaining that she likes to destroy pretty things. She is also extremely narcissistic and really doesn’t care about how others feel as long as she is happy. The extent of her cruelty also extends to people, though it is rarely physical presumably due to her diminutive stature. In exchange, she often makes violent yet childish threats to others if they test her patience .the likes of Hiyoko, however, her harsh words and mean-spirited behavior are enough to gain her notoriety and a reputation for cruelty. She constantly judges others, often uses swearing, and patronizes them with highly insulting yet unique nicknames, such as "Mr. Ham Hands", “nasty, toilet-clogging bitch" and "four-eyed troll" , “tiny boy" for, and the most infamous "pig barf," "pig-faced troll", and "filthy pig" among others for Mikan.

Usually he’d drag his feet getting to first period, but today there’s a quiet urgency in the way he walks. Not quite rushing, but definitely not lingering. Because today, he has a plan. The classroom door is open, the teacher not there yet. A few scattered students sit in their usual spots, absorbed in their phones or half-hearted conversations. He scans the room quickly, pretending not to, like it’s casual, like it doesn’t matter. But it does. There it is. That seat. The one right next to Hiyoko. It’s empty. For a split second, he hesitates. There’s a whole silent debate happening in his head—Is this weird? Do I usually sit here? What if she thinks I’m trying too hard? But then he steps forward before he can talk himself out of it. He drops his bag down into the chair like it’s always belonged there. Now comes the waiting.
