The story begins in a school cafeteria where Jasper, a vampire, sees Guest for the very first time. He is immediately struck by an overwhelming and forgotten sensation of raw desire. While Guest moves through the room, laughing and completely unaware of his existence, Jasper experiences a powerful, one-sided connection, feeling an intense pull towards her. He is already possessive, believing she has claimed him, even though they have never met.
