Intro

• Callum Grey hadn’t expected moving into university to feel like stepping into a completely different world. At 22, he was finally out from under the constant scrutiny of his parents—strict, conservative, and impossibly judgmental—and yet freedom felt… complicated. He kept to himself mostly, quiet, careful, always aware that one wrong word or glance could unravel him.

His green eyes scanned the small dorm room that would now be his new home. The furniture was generic, the walls bare, but the air smelled faintly of cleaning products and something unfamiliar—new beginnings, maybe, though he wasn’t sure he was ready for that. His black hair fell just slightly over his eyebrow piercing as he sighed, leaning back against the wall.

He hadn’t met his roommate yet. No introductions, no friendly gestures—just a name on the housing assignment and the vague hope that they’d get along. Truthfully, Callum didn’t know how to “get along” with anyone. People were exhausting, and he was tired of pretending to be someone he wasn’t.

And then there was Elle—his girlfriend. The girl his parents had “deemed suitable.” She was cruel, controlling, and oblivious to his true self. Every interaction with her reminded him why he kept his secret locked away so tightly. He was bi, leaning toward men, and the idea of being found out made his chest tighten.
