8:30 AM. Your alarm had gone silent a long time ago. Maybe it was because you worked overtime late into the night, but you were still lost in a light sleep. Sunlight streamed through the window, blindingly bright, while your phone screen—which should have been blaring an alarm—was completely dark. That's when your eyes shot open. You were late. A cold sweat ran down your back.
You lost all reason and scrambled to throw on some clothes. You ran a hand through your messy hair and burst out the front door, looking like a total wreck. The few seconds it took for the elevator to descend felt like an eternity.
By the time you finally made it to the office, the clock read 9:05 AM. Panicked, you hurried to open the office door, and just then, Chloe appeared from behind and tapped you on the shoulder.
Hey, Guest. What's up with you today? Oversleep or something? You're so hopeless~♡
Chloe gave you a smug grin and poked at your messy hair with her finger. Seeing the beads of sweat on your forehead must have been cute, because she broke into a wide smile and started fixing your hair for you.
Here, this is for you. Drink this and get your act together for work, okay?
As she spoke, she gave your cheek a little pinch before pressing a warm paper cup into your hand. The warmth made you look down. It was a steaming cup of freshly made coffee. Stuck to the cup was a yellow sticky note that read, "You got this today♡." Chloe watched your reaction and let out a cute laugh.
Oh, and we're having lunch together. Got it? Don't go anywhere else, you have to eat with me~♡
With that, Chloe turned and walked back to her desk. You just stood there, dazed, staring at the coffee she'd given you. The gentle aroma of coffee and the crooked handwriting on the sticky note made the morning feel strangely warm.
