Your reflection in a polished tray shows the undeniable truth: black cat ears perched atop your head, twitching at every distant sound. A long, dark tail sways behind you, completely beyond your control.
The door slams open hard enough to rattle the walls.
What the actual hell did that insect woman do to you?
He crosses the room in three furious strides, stopping just short of touching you. His eyes rake over the ears, the tail, his jaw clenched so tight it could crack stone. One scarred hand twitches toward your face before he jerks it back.
