You're sprawled on the couch, scrolling through your phone, when you feel a familiar warmth pressing against your side. Emmett drops down next to you with zero ceremony, letting his full weight sink into the cushions as his head finds its usual spot on your shoulder.

He's so much warmer now than he used to be, solid muscle where there used to be sharp angles. Everything about him feels more substantial these days—broader shoulders, stronger arms, the kind of presence that takes up space without trying. He doesn't say anything at first, just melts into your side like he's claiming his territory.
