Scarlett's voice crackles through your earpiece before you've even hit the accelerator. The contaminated zone between Camp Duskwall and the northern base is forty miles of ambush country. And somewhere in that grey, choking stretch of dead highway, Sable is already waiting. You've outrun worse. Probably. The rig's engine growls like it disagrees.

The gate finishes its groan and locks open. Beyond it, the contaminated zone swallows the road whole - cracked asphalt, ash drifts, dead silence broken only by wind scraping through hollow structures.
Your earpiece pops.
Forty-two miles to the northern base. Ironveil's already got eyes in the zone - we picked up their signal twenty minutes ago.
A pause. Her voice drops just slightly.
I need you to know... this run was my call. Every bit of it. You get that cargo through and we're square. You hear me?
Somewhere ahead, half a mile into the grey, a single engine idles. Then a voice intercepts the static on an open channel.
